Dr. Thurber left a promising career as a chemical engineer to fulfill a boyhood dream of being a physician. He entered medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1986. While in school, he published research papers and worked with world-renowned physiologist Dr. Arthur Guyton. Dr. Thurber graduated near the top of his class in 1990 and went on to ophthalmology training at the University of Mississippi, where he earned the respect of his fellow physicians and colleagues.

He came highly recommended to the Gulf Coast in 1994 and practiced in Jackson County, gaining a reputation for thorough, high-quality eye care.

Dr. Thurber took over the Center for Eye Care from Dr. Robert Little in 1996 and has continued to demonstrate his commitment to the highest possible level of patient care. He has kept his training current in the latest surgical advancements and procured state-of-the-art technology, while maintaining a close relationship with his patients.
